From Chitra Dinakar, MD and Ruchi Gupta, MD |
As presented at the business meeting of the AAAII meeting in February 2015, Chitra Dinakar, MD (Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, MO) and Ruchi Gupta, MD (Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago in Chicago, IL) are conducting a study to explore the types of foods causing food-allergic reactions among adults and children of Asian Indian origin. The "South Asian Food Allergy Survey" is an anonymous online survey that can be filled out by parents of Asian Indian origin at the link below. The survey is voluntary, has no identifiers, and has been approved by the IRB at both institutions. https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/SouthAsianFoodAllergySurvey With the increase in the number of individuals of Asian Indian origin with food allergies, and the paucity of knowledge regarding specific triggers in this population, the researchers hope to gather preliminary data in this survey that will help shape clinical care and develop future definitive studies. Their goal is to survey families of Asian Indian origin across USA and Canda in order to collect generalizable information. We request your help in disseminating information about this survey to friends/families/ patients of Asian Indian Origin and to leaders of Asian Indian organizations in your region. [please see attached patient information sheet]. Please contact Chitra Dinakar cdinakar@cmh.edu<mailto:cdinakar@cmh.edu> with questions/clarifications, if any. Your kind support and help in recruiting subjects is greatly appreciated! |
